Welcome to Kansas Public Health Training Series

The Welcome to Kansas Public Health Training Series

About:
Welcome to Kansas Public Health is a training series designed to help new local health department staff navigate the Kansas public health system, understand key public health frameworks, and connect with resources and colleagues. The program includes a Welcome to Kansas Public Health booklet, five self-paced video modules, and a live virtual session. Whether you are brand new to public health or transitioning from another sector, the program will provide a strong foundation to help you succeed in your role.

Who Should Participate?
This training series is designed for new local health department staff, providing them with a foundational understanding of public health and the Kansas public health system. However, anyone seeking a refresher on public health basics or a better understanding of how public health operates in Kansas is welcome to participate.

The Commitment:
Welcome to Kansas Public Health is a self-paced series we encourage completing within an employee’s first few months on the job. Steps and time commitments for the completion are:

  1. Register for the course in Kansas-TRAIN #1128502.
  2. Review the Welcome to Kansas Public Health orientation book.
  3. Complete five short video modules with a total view time of approximately 30 minutes.
  4. Attende one live, 90-minute virtual meeting to expand upon knowledge gained and meet peers from across the state who are also new to public health.
